RUG EVENT: Ten Thousand Villages Evanston

Ten Thousand Villages Evanston's 8th annual Oriental Rug Event runs from Monday, September 13 through Sunday, September 19. They've extended their hours so you can see these beautiful works of art for yourself:

Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sunday Sept. 19th, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Then they say good-bye to the rug caravan as they travel to the next stop on their "trade route."

From Thousand Villages Evanston's website: The massive flooding that occurred in Pakistan this summer destroyed many homes and looms. The best way we can help long term is to provide new work by buying the rugs the artisans shipped before the rains began. Being paid fair wages means that families will be able to rebuild homes and schools and live normally again. These rugs are of such quality that they can be handed down for several generations from 80 to 200 years. Come in to see them and view our newly remodeled store during this week.
