Sweden recently did away with military conscription and Austria is debating whether to get rid of the draft.  A shift towards more professional armies means fewer and fewer European nations still have mandatory military service.  James Sheehan, author of "Where Have All the Soldiers Gone?" tells us why things have changed.  Also, local artist Firat Erdim tells us why he chose to pay a heafty fee in order to expedite his mandatory service in the Turkish army.  And, we find out why some young Germans chose to fulfill their obligation to the Germany state by opting out of the military and volunteering at a Chicago shelter.
