New comp digs up wild sights and sounds of Pakistan’s Lollywood

‘Life is Dance!’ is the follow-up album to ‘The Sound of Wonder.’

On this week’s Global Notes, our weekly look at world music, Jerome and Radio M host Tony Sarabia check out a new compilation of the eclectic, pulsating music produced by 1970s Lollywood, the movie industry in Lahore, Pakistan. It’s called “Life is Dance!”: Plugged-in Sounds of Wonder at the Pakistani Picture House. The record features tracks from favorites such as Nazir Ali, M. Ashraf, Nahid Akhtar, Tafo and Noor Jehan.
