Becoming pregnant and giving birth are some of the most dangerous things a woman can do in Liberia. According to UNICEF, Liberian women have a one in 12 risk of dying from childbirth.

Most of these deaths could be prevented with access to trained midwives, but there’s a dire shortage of them in the country. Recently, a school for midwives in a remote corner of Liberia decided to break from tradition to meet the demand. The World Vision Report's Bonnie Allen has the story.
