When storms hit metropolitan Chicago, some rainwater soaks into the ground — and some runs off into the city’s sewer system, carrying along oil, chemicals and other pollutants with it. More than 700 cities around the world, including Chicago, have water pollution concerns due to combined stormwater and sewer overflows.
