Switzerland to hold referendum on capping wages

On November 24th the Swiss will hold a referendum on a ballot initiative that would make it illegal to pay anyone working in a company in Switzerland more than 12 times the wage paid to the lowest earner. It’s the first of a series of proposals that the Swiss will consider on wealth distribution. Patrick Emmenegger, professor of comparative political economy and public policy at St. Gallen University in Switzerland, explains why the Swiss are considering passing legislation that could potentially redistribute wealth.
