The Honduran electoral authorities have declared that Juan Orlando Hernandez has an “irreversible” lead in what has been a hotly contested presidential race. His main competitor, Xiomara Castro, is the wife of the former president, Manuel Zelaya, who was ousted in a coup in 2009. She has also declared victory.
