What Chicago Can Learn From Other Police Consent Decrees

Four years after Officer Van Dyke fired the 16 shots that took 17-year-old Laquan McDonald’s life, Chicago is expected to enter into what’s known as a consent decree.

It’s a binding agreement that will force reforms within the Chicago Police Department.

Around 20 police departments across the country have entered consent decrees with the federal government, so what can Chicago learn from them?
