Illinois is expected to receive an additional $15 million in funding to combat the opioid crisis across the state, after receiving $43.5 million in September 2018.
And the funding, from the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, comes at a needed time.
Earlier this year, a report from the National Safety Council found that Americans, for the first time, are now more likely to die from an opioid overdose than a car crash.
