There will be a changing of the guard at the Chicago Public Library System this weekend.

Career librarian Andrea Telli will replace outgoing Library Commissioner Brian Bannon, who will become the first-ever Merryl and James Tisch Director of The New York Public Library in September.

Telli is among a handful of new commissioners Mayor Lori Lightfoot nominated to be permanent members of her cabinet. The Library board confirmed Lightfoot’s nomination last week. Morning Shift checks in with Telli, who starts her post on June 15.
