New Study Finds 30-Year Life Expectancy Gap Between Englewood And Streeterville Residents

life expectancy rates

Residents in the city’s Streeterville neighborhood live to be 90 on average. But nine miles away in Englewood, residents only make it to 60.

That’s according to a new study from New York University’s School of Medicine. Researchers examined life expectancies in the 500 biggest U.S. cities and found Chicago had the largest gap in expectancy.

Dr. David A. Ansell of Rush University Medical Center and Asiaha Butler of the Resident Association of Greater Englewood join the Morning Shift to discuss the study’s findings and possible solutions to create more equitable communities in Chicago.
