Republican Cook County Commissioner Tony Peraica appears to have lost in his re-election bid for the 16th District seat on the Cook County Board of Commissioners. With 223 of 230 precincts reporting, Democrat Jeffrey Tobolski has 51 percent of the vote.

Peraica was charged with one count of criminal destruction of property for allegedly tearing up signs advertising his Democratic opponent just days ago. Peraica blamed Tobolski, who is also mayor of McCook, for encouraging his arrest. Peraica said previously he plans to file a lawsuit for violation of his rights.
