With farmers in mind, in 2004, Jim Slama, founder of food justice and sustainability NGO FamilyFarmed, created the group’s highest-profile event, the Good Food EXPO. Held each March in Chicago, the trade show bills itself as “America’s oldest and largest expo focused on local and sustainable food.” Over the years, FamilyFarmed has expanded the EXPO’s audience to include, “everyone who supports a better food system: business leaders, entrepreneurs, producers, buyers, sellers, investors and Good Foodies...” The 2019 Good Food EXPO is March 22-23 at UIC Forum.
