The Illinois Department of Corrections announced that murder suspect Garrett Glover is in custody.

Glover was mistakenly released from state custody last month and has been the subject of an intense manhunt.

Glover is now awaiting trial for a 2012 shooting that killed a 25-year-old man on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

The Cook County Sheriff and the IDOC have been fighting over who is to blame for his accidental release.

According to a release by IDOC, Glover was transferred to their custody for admission on a four year day-for-day sentence for attempted armed robbery on Friday, February 24th.

He was processed into the IDOC system around 9:30am and released to Mandatory Supervised Release just after 6pm due to what IDOC says was the the Sheriff’s Office of Cook County’s failure to provide the them with proper paperwork indicating he should remain in custody on Murder charges.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office disputes that claim. In a Feb. 28 letter to IDOC Director John Baldwin, Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart wrote that Glover’s release would have been prevented with “even a cursory review of his criminal history or outreach to our office. Either step would have immediately revealed the existence of an open murder case.”

The U.S. Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended Glover Friday night, in in Lithonia, Georgia, which is about 20 miles east of Atlanta. Plans are being made to have Glover transferred back to Illinois, according to the statement by IDOC.
