Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) presents a new play, Amarillo, by the Mexico-based Teatro Linea de Sombra Ensemble.

CST describes the work as “poetic storytelling on the harsh realities faced by immigrants and their families.” Presented in Spanish with projected English subtitles, “a man departs México for a land of dreams: Amarillo, Texas—but vanishes before reaching his destination. Far away, a woman reconstructs his journey, imagining what might have transpired not only for him, but for the thousands of other faceless men and women who have taken the same path…”

We’ll talk with Jorge A. Vargas, director of Amarillo, and Doreen Sayegh, international projects producer at CST. Amarillo runs October 17-29, 2017 at CST’s new facility, The Yard — their new 33,000 square-foot interactive theater expansion.
