The Affordable Care Act survive the latest Republican attempt in Congress to repeal it. But Cook County officials say the struggle continues. Democratic County Board President Toni Preckwinkle says the repeal efforts are hurting the county’s ability to provide affordable healthcare. The third attempt failed yesterday. But Preckwinkle says those efforts still pose a threat. At a press conference today at Stroger Hospital in Chicago, Preckwinkle chided Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner for not speaking out more against the failed Graham-Cassidy bill. She says repeal would have cost Illinois billions of dollars in federal funding over a 16-year period.
