How Bicycles Are Transforming Life For The Poor

World Bicycle Relief

Matt Pierce/World Bicycle Relief

F.K. Day and his wife, Leah Missbach Day, founded World Bicycle Relief (WBR), a Chicago-based development NGO, after the 2005 tsunami. They believe a bike is for more than exercising and fun, but also “a tool for development.” They work to “transform people and their communities through the power of bicycles.”

For our Global Activism segment, F.K. and Leah will update us on their vision to use bikes to provide the world’s extreme poor with access to healthcare, education, and jobs. So far, WBR has delivered nearly 400,000 bikes around the world.
