ICE Releases Immigrant Falsely Added To CPD’s Gang Database

ICE and federal agents

After 10 months in custody, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, released a 32-year old Chicago man back to his family. He was originally arrested by federal agents because he was listed on a Chicago Police Department gang database, despite the fact that he has no gang affiliations or arrest record.

WBEZ’s Odette Yousef has been following the case, and talks about both the case and the larger ramifications of CPD’s “Strategic Subject List” for immigrants.
