Morning Shift Live: Campaigns, Conventions And Comedy

Morning Shift Live

Jenn White and Tony Sarabia welcome the audience at Lincoln Hall.

This political campaign season has been long, hard-charging and a little tiring. That’s why Morning Shift took a break of sorts with a more lighthearted take on the presidential race. At our live event “Campaigns, Conventions, and Comedy,” we talked with comedy writers about what it’s like to satirize Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump and all of the shenanigans we’ve seen over the last year. Host Jenn White talked with Katie Rich, a writer for Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update" and former performer at Second City, and Scott Dikkers, founder of TheOnion.com and author of the new book Trump’s America: The Complete Loser’s Guide.

Also: Tony Sarabia discussed the conventions with hip hop artist and activist Che “Rhymefest” Smith and GOP strategist Pat Brady. They had plenty of critiques for both parties – especially their own.

This was recorded Monday, July 25 at Lincoln Hall in Chicago, on the first day of the Democratic National Convention.

Note: Contains explicit language -- and silly music from the masterful Abraham Levitan.
