No Small Plans: New Graphic Novel To Teach Youth About Civic Engagement

In the beginning of building Chicago, there was a manuscript called the 1911 Wacker’s Manual. This manual was used in Chicago Public School classrooms to teach urban planning and civics to students. The Chicago Architecture Foundation took the initiative to reimagine the Wacker’s Manual to fit the needs of students today in form of a graphic novel. The process is now complete and books are hitting the classrooms.

Morning Shift sits down with Gabrielle Lyon, the Vice President of Education and Experience at the Chicago Architecture Foundation to chat about what to expect from this anticipated graphic novel called, No Small Plans.
