Elizabeth Rush, in her new book, Rising: Dispatches from the New American Shore, takes a “lyrical” approach to report on the growing number of catastrophic hurricane and water events, only accelerated by climate change. She introduces the reader to the people and places upended by Hurricanes like Harvey, Irma. Sandy and Katrina. For today’s Puerto Ricanstruction segment, Rush will talk about those storms, and Hurricane Maria, that devastated Puerto Rico. We will also be joined by Rob Moore, a senior health analyst at the Natural Resources Defense Council. Each Monday, during the 2018 hurricane season, Worldview presents Puerto Ricanstruction to discuss post-Maria life in Puerto Rico, and issues that matter to the people there, and to Chicago’s Puerto Rican Diaspora.
