When a child or teen is shot and survives, the physical trauma often overshadows the psychological trauma. But victims of gun violence must live with both types of wounds.

We check in with two people who are working to help treat Chicago youth who have been shot or who have witnessed shootings and murders of friends or family members.

Bradley Stolbach is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago and clinical director for Healing Hurt People-Chicago. Reverend Carol Reese is the project’s program director. She’s the Episcopalian chaplain and a licensed clinical social worker at Stroger Hospital, where HHPC first makes contact with young victims of gun violence. We also open up the phones to listeners.
