Each Friday, Morning Shift  sits down with three local journalists from inside and outside the WBEZ newsroom to bring context and analysis to the biggest Chicagoland and Illinois news stories of the week. The goal is to get listeners up to speed on what they might have missed over the last five days so they’re feeling prepared to understand the latest about our city and state going into the weekend.

For this Friday’s installment, Morning Shift touches on a number of big stories, including the race for Illinois attorney general, the ongoing battle between Chicago and the Trump administration over sanctuary cities and what we learned from the first televised debate of the Democratic candidates for Illinois governor.

GUESTS:

Sun-Times columnist Mary Mitchell

ProPublica Illinois reporter Mick Dumke

WBEZ state political reporter Tony Arnold
