New York City launched a Vision Zero campaign to reduce traffic fatalities and pedestrian and cyclist deaths back in 2014 under Mayor Bill de Blasio. Since then, it’s made a lot of progress. Pedestrian deaths were down 32 percent in 2017 in the city, for example. Meanwhile, in Chicago, pedestrian deaths are on the rise.
So, what is New York City getting right when it comes to keeping people safe on the streets?
