Every three years, miniatures artists from dozens of countries compete in the World Model Expo, known as the “Olympics of modeling”. The artist’s figures and dioramas explore history in great detail. Jim Derogatis, in addition to being one of the world’s top rock critics and host of Sound Opinions, is also an award-winning modeler. He regularly participates in the World Model Expo. DeRogatis authored the book Sheperd Paine: The Life and Work of a Master Modeler and Military Historian and was a contributing editor to Shep Paine’s Armor Modelers Guide

DeRogatis drops by with modelers from Malta and Switzerland for a discussion on how people around the globe explore history through the art of modeling. They will display their work at World Model Expo 2017 in Chicago, July 7-9, 2017.
