The Chicago Tribune was the first to report that Emanuel set up a private domain for email—rahmemail.com—on the day he was sworn in as mayor. At a press conference Monday, two reporters in a row asked the mayor if he had ever used a private account for public business, yes or no. He didn’t give a yes or no answer. He did say he had used private email addresses for personal and political correspondence. It’s illegal to use government equipment -- including email servers-- for political campaigning.
