Chicago farmers markets 2024: A guide for city and suburbs

WBEZ’s annual list of 80-plus markets across the metro Chicago area, including this season’s programming and available prepared food offerings.

For 2024, we’ve researched and updated every entry in our annual list of 80-plus farmers markets in the city and neighboring suburbs, organized by day of the week and region.

Each listing includes the market’s hours of operation and address, plus any bells and whistles, such as live music, specialty vendors beyond farm produce, and prepared food offerings you’ll find on site. A dog emoji next to the name of a market means pets are welcome.

This year, the popular Green City Market in Lincoln Park opened earlier than ever in May. And, the iconic Maxwell Street Market downsized and moved back to its original location, displaced because its larger space was reclaimed by the city for use as a migrant landing zone.

One market didn’t make our guide because its location changes daily. Called Fresh Moves Mobile Market, the market is a converted bus that roams from place to place in order to bring fresh produce into Black and brown neighborhoods.
