CHA Pilots Section 8 Program To Incentivize Landlords

The Chicago Housing Authority is piloting a program for Section 8 landlords. They would receive a one-time financially incentive to rent to people with a housing voucher if the unit is in an opportunity area. Those are communities with better access to jobs and transportation. CHA has earmarked $975,000 for the program. The public housing agency has long been criticized for clustering voucher holders in segregated neighborhoods in the city.
