There is perhaps nothing more American than a good burger, and restaurateur David Morton and chef Michael Kornick wanted to find the very best. So they spent a year traveling across America and tasting burgers before jumping into the burger game themselves in 2009. DMK Burger Bar now has three locations in Illinois and has even been featured on the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, as well as a list of the Chicago Tribune’s best burgers in town. The restaurants serve 100% grass-fed beef patties, among other options. WBEZ’s Monica Eng met up with Kornick to find out about the sustainable meat trend and what sets DMK Burger Bar’s burgers apart from the rest. Kornick is a five-time James Beard Award Nominee.
