Foxx Says Reforms Needed At CPD, Consent Decree Or Not

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx said a federal consent decree is the best way to reform the Chicago Police Department. But she also said it isn’t necessary. The Department of Justice released a harsh report on practices at CPD, and city officials agreed to work toward a consent decree with the DOJ. But that was before President Donald Trump took office. Now, it’s unclear whether Attorney General Jeff Sessions will push for the agreement. Foxx said it’s up to local officials to implement the reforms suggested by the DOJ.
