A Persephone Pageant is an outdoor performance that weaves together Greek natural mythology with current issues in environmental justice. The play sets up Lake Michigan as Persephone, Land as Demeter and Man’s Creations as Hades to explore the great challenges people face in water ethics and lake preservations. A Persephone Pageant plays on September 2 at 6 p.m. in Hyde Park and September 16 at 4 p.m. in Lake Forest.

Global Citizen, Nari Safavi, talks with directors of the play, Jessica Thebus and Thom Pasculli, and brings us some other global events to check out this weekend.
